Using a Description Calculator

You can open a description calculator by clicking on the icon next to a combo box. There are description calculators for the movement description, dial description, and case description. NOTE: the descriiption calculators are not available on the 'Wristwatch' data input form since the abbreviated descriptions are not commonly used for wristwatches. The description calculators use combined common abbreviations rather than the longer full word descriptions. The abbreviations are commonly used in Horology.

Movement Description Calculator

The Movement Description Calculator assists you with providing a movement description found in many watch collector books. Some of the information can be entered on the main vwatch data entry form and will be available on the Description Calculator. You can change it here or just complete the additional fields. The actual description that will be entered into the 'Movement' field on the main watch data entry form is shown just above all the fields. This format is widely accepted by Horological Collectors.

Dial Description Calculator

The Dial Description Calculator contains three fields used to describe a dial. It has drop down lists for selecting abbreviations for dial type, material, and style. The dial description that will be copied to the main watch data entry form field is shown above the drop down fields.

Case Description Calculator

The Case Description Calculator contains three fields used to describe a case. It has drop down lists for selecting abbreviations for case material, configuration and manufacturer. The case description that will be copied to the main watch data entry form fields is shown above the drop down fields.
