Compacting Databases

Repair Shop is made up of several database files. Since these database files expand when you add/delete data, they sometimes take up more space than necessary.

If you delete data in a database, the file can become fragmented and use disk space inefficiently. Compacting the database file rearranges how the file is stored on your disk. Compacting optimizes the performance of databases.

You should compact your databases on a regular basis if you do a lot of data entry/deletion. To compact your database files, select the appropriate 'Compact..." command from the <Start><Programs><RepairShop...><Compact...>. The ... will depend on where you have installed your program.
